Hilford Burton was born in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada. At 12 years of age his father bought him a boat and said, “Fix it and it's yours to keep”. That was the start of a life long passion for wooden boats. Hilmark Boats Inc. is the result of that passion, located on Vancouver Island, Canada. We build 16 different models of boats as well as specializing in researching designs and creating boats that meet our customer's wishes.
We enjoy unlimited natural wood supplies and are committed to traditional , historically accurate methods of construction. Lapstrake or clinker built construction is our specialty. Our worldwide shipping program has delivered boats to Europe, Alaska, Canada, all areas of the continental USA, the Caribbean, and contracts are being started for Australia, Turkey, and the Ukraine.
