Hilmark Boats has been awarded a Finalist Award for Value Added Products at the 2009 Mid-Island Science, Technology and Inovation Council Awards.

Hilmark Boats. was honoured to be nominated and chosen as a finalist for the MISTIC Value Added Products award . The awards were presented at the 2009 MISTIC (Mid-Island Science, Technology and Innovation Council) Awards Gala, which took place on Nov. 5th at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo.

Hilmark Boats. was started in 2001(incorporated 2005) as a business that would develop a value added product to the forest industry building 'quality' wooden boats. As a small boat building business we support family-owned saw mills on the North Island and have created six full time positions with plans for further expansion. Our yacht tenders, daysailers and rowboats are built with old growth woods that are harvested from winter blow- down using traditional designs and construction. We have recreated the local Tyee rowboat last built in Campbell River 50 years ago. Focusing on a quality product we are enjoying worldwide recognition with sales in Alaska, Ukraine, Europe, USA, the Caribbean and Canada. Presenting quality wood boats to this market has resulted in enquiries from Europe for BC lumber. We are currently in discussions with building contractors in Europe who wish to obtain a supply of our excellent wood products.
