Doc Murphy and "The Doc Murphy"

Doc. made two trips to the home of Hilford Burton to see how the tyee boat was coming. His eye and advice was cherished. His enthusiasm was contagious. Doc. contacted members of the Campbell River Tyee Club to make sure every one knew that the boats were coming back. Two weeks after the proto type was finished, and presented to this fine gentleman Doctor Richard Murphy passed from this world in his 83rd year. Joe Painter, Ned Painters son and others were present with Doc’s. Family when the boat was presented to him at his home. It was a very special day.

Thus the torch has passed to another generation who appreciate the superior qualities of wooden boats.
