Our standard charge for building crates is $500.00 for the 10 foot boats, $700.00 for the 15 foot boats, and our 20 foot plus boats would be on a one off basis . We make sure that your boat is safe and secure before shipping.
All shipping crates are made from manufactured wood. In North America crates are standard 2X2 framed and covered with either plywood or OSB chip board.
Europe and all off shore crates are made from plywood. This includes ripping the plywood and building 2X4 structural members, then closing off with plywood. The ISPM 15 rules require manufactured wood as the only material allowed into EU countries. It is also acceptable in all other countries on the world.
Crates are various sizes depending on the size of the boat. However two recently shipped crates weighed in at 700 and 900 pounds when crated.
From Vancouver Canada to Austria, for example, cost approximately $ 2500.00 Canadian funds for our Campbell River Classic row boat. A Campbell River Classic shipped to Nebraska or the central US cost approximately $1600.00
A sunshine tender crated to the eastern US sea board cost approximately $ 900.00. The shipping companies work out the cubic volume of the crates and that is the rate charged. We have no control on this and as a result we build the crates to ensure the boat is well protected in our world wide shipping program. The weight of the boat and the crate never exceeds the cubic volume of the crate.
Over seas shipments are insured by the shipper we use. Our shipper of choice is UTi.
North American shipping insurance is the responsibility of the client.
- Smaller items are shipped by Canada Post in North America.

"Dear Hilford: Your boat arrived safely weeks ago. In fact I have been here, (Austria) on and off since the 30th of March and your boat arrived at least a week before that. Your crate was great, and the boat is in perfect shape. It should be in the water within the week. It looks just beautiful and I am more than pleased with the shipper you used. I will send pictures as soon as it is fully unpacked and in it's new home. Thank you again.
        ... All the best, John"
